La pratique en arts visuels et en arts numériques de Carol-Ann Belzil-Normand défend une posture de frivolité qu’elle définit par le flou, l’incertain ou l’inexacte, et qui résiste à une définition unique. Un peu à la manière d’une idée random, le frivole s’immisce dans sa production sous la forme d’une logique floue (fuzzy logic) et d’un principe d’association d’idées libre. Belzil-Normand construit une approche méthodologique féminine axée sur le sensible et l’humour par laquelle elle explore des expériences et des correspondances sensorielles (visuelles, tactiles, sonores et olfactives). De la céramique à l’animation, du son à la fabrication de mobilier, du Web à la feuille de papier, de la programmation à la sculpture, ses déploiements multisensoriels interrogent de manière rizhomique la subjectivité inhérente à la perception.

Dans ses investigations récentes, Belzil-Normand s’intéresse à la relation matérielle et immatérielle du corps féminin à l’espace d’exposition. Les dispositifs de présentation qu’elle utilise activent des concepts d’intimité, d'intériorité ou de quotidienneté en plus d’évoquer l’univers domestique. Elle cherche à créer une synesthésie entre le corps et l’espace, c’est-à-dire à susciter un décalage perceptif en brouillant les sensations normalement perçues par une région spécifique du corps ou un sens.

Carol-Ann Belzil-Normand's practice in visual and digital arts defends a posture of frivolity which she defines by vagueness, uncertainty or inexact, and which resists a single definition. A bit like a random idea, the frivolous interferes in this production in the form of fuzzy logic and a principle of free association of ideas. Belzil-Normand builds a feminine methodological approach focused on the sensitive and the humour by which she explores sensory experiences and correspondences (visual, tactile, sound and olfactory). From ceramics to animation, from sound to the production of furniture, from the Web to the sheet of paper, from programming to sculpture, her multi-sensory deployments question in a rhizomatic way the subjectivity inherent in perception.

In her recent investigations, Belzil-Normand is interested in the material and immaterial relationship of the female body to the exhibition space. The dispositif of presentation that she uses to set the concepts of intimacy, interiority or everyday life in addition to evoking the domestic world. She seeks to create synesthesia between the body and space, that is to say to create a perceptual shift by blurring the sensations normally perceived by a specific region of the body or a sense.
